||Nuus

- Walleria nutans, bush potato -

The ||nuus is a perennial plant with grass-like leaves; it reaches a height of about 20 to 30 cm. It develops small, roundish tubers (||nuun) which resemble small potatoes. The young tubers found during the rainy season are very tasty, and are usually baked in hot ash. In the dry season, the Hai||om require some experience in locating the tubers, since those parts of the plants visible above ground are very difficult to discern.
